April 2022
Covid is on the way out so lets get back to banding!
Ross on Wye Town Band – who are firmly non-contesting, but nevertheless strive to maintain a high standard of playing under their inspirational Musical Director, Tim Murray – are seeking additional players in all sections.
Rehearsals (Fridays at the Larruperz Centre in Ross) are challenging but enjoyable.
The commitment of existing players can be seen from these 3 examples
- One player, who was working in Poland all week, made a point of coming to band even though he only arrived back in the UK that afternoon
- Another, who’s car is broken, hired a taxi to bring her to band and back
- A third made a 52 mile round trip to the rehearsal
That’s dedication!
If you would like to consider joining us (come for a couple of trial rehearsals if you like) please contact Viv on 07779 449 537 or just come along at 7:30 on a Friday. Players in all sections welcome too.

The band is going from strength to strength and feeling united with a return to our smart jackets seen here at the Dymock Proms concert on 13th July
January 2019 - the start of a brand new year and a brand new musical director and website!
We are delighted to welcome Tim as our new Musical Director.
Tim Murray is a professional musician who trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. His career has allowed him to work all over the world from South East Asia to Norway. Tim continues to work in the music industry both as a performer and as a Musical Director. He’s very much looking forward to returning back to his musical roots conducting Ross Town Brass Band, as his introduction to music was whilst playing in brass bands in his childhood county of Yorkshire.

Fantastic support from Ross-on-Wye Town Council
Thanks to the generosity of Ross-on-Wye Town Council for their financial assistance in a grant, we now have a full set of The band Tune Books of The Salvation Army. volumes 1 and 2. This will enable both the Main and Training Bands to practice from the same books and join together to play some superb pieces of music.
The support and help from our local council is always very much appreciated by all involved with the band, which in this case will enable us to greatly extend our repertoire in this field.
